As a recent graduate from the Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Science, I am pleased to have accepted a position at the Colter Elementary School in Jackson, WY, serving grades 3-5 from the school library.
I’ve had the opportunity to serve a students in grades Pre-K through 8th grade as a school library assistant in at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Amigos Schools in Cambridge, Massachusetts this year. It has been a joy and a challenge to work with dedicated teachers and faculty, and to be welcomed as a participant in two distinct learning communities. Working while studying has enriched my experiences and enabled me to apply the the teaching techniques and new technologies I’ve learned at Simmons directly to my teaching and student teaching.
I completed my elementary student teaching this fall at the King/Amigos school where I am employed, and just finished my secondary student teaching experience at the Cambridge Rindge & Latin School in Cambridge, MA.
Because of the number of web-based projects I’ve initiated or participated in this year, creating a web-based glimpse of my teaching experiences and qualifications seemed a natural next step. I look forward to continuing my career as an educator in the coming year. Welcome, and please feel free to comment.

Melissa, what fun to see you use a 21st century library 2.0 communication tool to share your talents and experiences with librarianship. Any school district would be extremely fortunate to have you on its team with your diverse list of skills and talents.
