Collaboration is at the heart of my job as a school librarian, and I enjoy working closely with classroom teachers and community experts to engage students as they learn essential content and skills across subject areas.

My teaching and student teaching experiences have allowed me multiple opportunities to co-plan and teach units of study. Drawing on the expertise of the classroom teacher while supporting students with the library’s resources and information-seeking skills has resulted in a number of successfully co-taught, planned and evaluated projects this school year.

Incorporating new technologies such as wikis and blogs has contributed to the success of the units. In my experiences this year the use of these technologies provides students an authentic reason to do their best work, while making the work we do at the schools visible to teachers, families of students and the broader learning community who support our efforts in the public schools.
