Blogs & Wikis
Has the world gone blog-wild?
I’ve created & contributed to blogs at Simmons College and at the Amigos and Dr. Martin Luther King School Library, where I am the library assistant.

Wiki-what?
Wikis are linked web pages that anyone can contribute content to or edit. I’ve used wikis to communicate with colleagues in two of my graduate school courses, to network nationally on ALA conference wikis, to promote student group activities & facilitate conversations, and to publish the work of 6th grade ecosystems experts.

Graduate School Wikis

ALASC Wiki
Regular contributor, oversee structure & make suggestions for content to be added by student group officers.

LIS 460: Technology and the School Library Media Center
This wiki was used by my class; we all contributed regularly to the “Interesting Resources” page and “School Library Tech Encyclopedia.”

LIS 406: School Library Management
This wiki was created in Spring 07 to support our class activities, including the “Management Notebook” project, in which three groups create a notebook for elementary, middle school and secondary level school libraries. I help organize the wiki, and contribute regularly as a class participant.

Boston Ecosystems Wiki
6th grade Amigos School students began adding content to this wiki in December 2006 as a way to share their knowledge of ecosystems in and around Boston. Students first learned to use the wiki software by creating individual informative pages about the ecosystem they’d studied, then worked in groups to write a single page for each ecosystem. The result was a shift in focus from “me” to “we” and students were thrilled to see their work published. We’re still looking at ways to improve the wiki.

Please see “Collaborations and Co-Teaching” for more details about this project.

Amigos Biblioteca Wiki
I created this wiki as a “sandbox” for teachers to learn how to use a wiki, and as a place to gather resources from the library for teachers.

The Unregistered Forum
This wiki was created at the Cambridge Rindge & Latin School during my highschool practica experience. 11th and 12th grade journalism students will use the wiki as a way to publish the articles and op-ed pieces they write for class. This wiki is in its beginning stages and will undergo a lot of development next fall.
